The closing ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris will take place today, Sunday, August 11, 2024. The ceremony will mark the end of 16 days of competition, with over 11,000 athletes from 206 countries participating in 329 medal events across 32 sports. Over 13 million tickets were sold for the games, making them the most attended Olympics since the 2012 London Games. The closing ceremony will be held at the Stade de France, which also hosted the opening ceremony of the 1998 FIFA World Cup. The ceremony will begin at 8:00 PM local time (2:00 PM EDT) and is expected to last for approximately three hours. It will feature a variety of performances and speeches, including a speech from French President Emmanuel Macron. The closing ceremony will also include the traditional Parade of Nations, where all of the participating countries will march into the stadium. The ceremony will conclude with the extinguishing of the Olympic flame.
